Oct. 5 | 9:35 a.m.

Officer Christopher Sewell was patrolling the area of University Loop and Alumni Boulevard when he saw that the entrance gate into North Park Quads (NPQ) was broken.

Sewell let dispatch know about his findings and started to review camera footage in the patrol unit. He found, on camera, that a Ford pickup had driven through the gate at 4:00 a.m. that morning. That same truck drove to the NPQ and parked in a parking spot. Sewell then drove to the NPQ in an attempt to locate the Ford pickup matching the description.

Sewell located the truck and walked up to get the student’s parking decal number off the truck when he noticed a white male asleep in the driver’s seat.

Sewell made contact by knocking on the window and waking up the driver. Sewell asked for ID and let him know the reason he’s making contact. As the driver was getting his ID, Sewell noticed what looked to be a Busch Light beer can in the cup holder. Sewell was handed a student ID and an Arkansas driver’s license.

Sewell went back to his patrol unit and ran the driver’s license number through their system, and the number did not come back as a registered person. Sewell then went back up to the suspect and asked to see his real driver’s license.

The suspect realized that he had given Sewell his fake ID, then grabbed his correct ID and handed it to him. Sewell cited him on possession of fraudulent/altered ID and let him know about the gate incident at 4:00 a.m. that morning. The suspect told him that he couldn’t get into the gate because he had lost or couldn’t find his wallet.

Sewell told him of the contact he would get from the Office of Student Conduct.

Oct. 4 | 12:22 a.m.

Corporal Heidi Custodio was dispatched to The Village apartments in reference to a female beating on the caller’s door. Upon her arrival, Custodio made contact with the suspect.

Custodio escorted the suspect down the stairs and attempted to get the suspect to follow her to her car to speak about what was going on. The suspect was not listening to commands and was detained. Custodio was then able to speak with the subject, who said she was at the apartment due to her child’s father being there, and she needed to know where he dropped off their child.

At this time, Officer Marcus Caskey was on scene, so Custodio made contact with the associated person.

After speaking with both individuals, Custodio told the associated person that he needed to gather his belongings and leave campus. The suspect was then banned from campus and from the Dogwood village apartment complex for disorderly conduct.

Oct. 3 | 6:12 p.m.

Sergeant Chase Barnett was conducting an extra patrol in the area of North Park Quads (NPQ) and the Living and Learning Communities (LLC) in reference to the increase in scooter thefts by juveniles on campus.

During this patrol, Barnett observed three juvenile males on campus walking from NPQ to the Honors LLC. Barnett got out with them and asked where they were headed. They said they were just walking.

Based on the current rise in thefts by juveniles and learning they all lived off campus, the decision was made to transport them home to their respective adults.

The suspects were transported and left in the care of their parents. They were banned from campus and the parents were informed of the rise in theft.

Oct. 2 | 10:29 a.m.

Officer Robert Kary was dispatched to Pack Place in reference to a theft.

Upon arrival, Kary spoke with the victim. The victim said that she parked her scooter on the bike rack at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 1. The victim said she discovered the scooter was missing the next day and called the police.

The victim stated the scooter is valued at $204.75 and provided screenshots of the scooter.

After reviewing camera footage, a suspect was developed and identified. The suspect was eventually located at Katsura in The Village and had the stolen scooter  in his possession.

The suspect was banned from campus and received a citation for misdemeanor theft. The victim’s property was also returned.

While making contact with the suspect in reference to the theft, it was also linked to another report for another scooter theft on campus on Thursday. Suspect two was also present at the Katsura apartment and was also determined to not be a resident or student.

Suspect two failed to comply with officers while on scene conducting the investigation. Suspect two was issued a persona non grata for failure to comply and violation of housing policy.

Suspect three is the tenant in Katsura and was issued a referral for allowing two individuals to live with her and the thefts/policy violations they completed.

The suspect was cited for both scooter incidents and issued a PNG and left campus. Suspect two was issued a persona non grata and left campus. Suspect three was informed of the violations and informed of the referral.
