Herald editors and staffers brought home 42 awards in Friday’s annual Arkansas College Media Association (ACMA) conference. The conference drew student news outlets from all over the state.

The conference, held at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, recognized the work of student-run newspapers, TV and radio stations, yearbooks and online outlets from 2023. There were over 700 entries.

In addition, students could network with professional news outlets and attend breakout sessions that covered anything from using artificial intelligence in reporting to freelancing.

“I had the dumbest grin on my face the whole time,” said Herald editor-in-chief Rachel Rudd. “Working at a student newspaper isn’t easy, but getting to see my staff be rewarded for all the work they’ve put into this paper and just knock it out of the park was amazing.”
