A-State Athletic Director Terry Mohajir announced on Wednesday that Brian Boyer will not have his contract renewed as the head coach for the women’s basketball team.
Boyer started coaching the Red Wolves in 1999 and he just completed his 20th season as head coach. Boyer led A-State to three Sun Belt Conference regular season titles including titles in the 2003-2004, 2013-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons.
The veteran coach led A-State to a 331-285 record under his tutelage which included seven trips to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament. Boyer was named SBC Coach of the Year four times throughout his career at A-State.
“He is an active and well-respected member of the community, and he has been a loyal employee here at Arkansas State,” Mohajir said. “In addition, he helped countless amounts of young ladies graduate and become strong alumni of Arkansas State University. We wish him the best moving forward.”
A-State will now be on the search for a new head women’s basketball coach. This will only be the seventh coach all-time in A-State women’s basketball history.
