Early this morning, an emergency alert went out about a shooting at 1203 University Loop. This address placed the event at Red Wolf Den, one of the apartment-style residences on campus.

The campus was put on lockdown for several hours in response to the shooting.
A follow-up message an hour after the initial alert.
The initial alert went out at 12:22 a.m. According to KAIT, A-State Chancellor Dr. Kelly Damphousse was at the scene by 1:30 a.m. Around the same time, another alert came out asking residents to stay in their rooms. A similar message followed 2 hours later.
Another update, three hours after the initial lockdown notification.
When asked for a statement, Dr. Damphousse said, “UPD issued a shelter in place warning early Wednesday morning after determining that there had been a shooting on campus. As of 3:30 AM, the investigation continues but campus remains locked down. We are asking all students to shelter in place until further notice.”
The lockdown order was lifted shortly after 5 a.m.
A final alert ends the lockdown.
At 7 a.m., Dr. Damphousse sent out the following email to update the A-State community on the situation.
