A-State to continue remote learning and working through Friday, Feb. 19 and vaccine clinic moved to Feb. 20

by A-State News | News Release

Based on current conditions and forecasts, Arkansas State University will remain in remote learning and working mode through Friday, Feb. 19.  There are more than six inches of snow on campus, and the National Weather Service in Memphis is forecasting additional snow starting on Wednesday.  Potential record low temperatures and wind chill values are also factors in this decision.

Key Notes for the Week:

  • Remote instruction continues through Friday, Feb. 19
  • Only inclement weather essential staff on campus
  • Dining services for campus residents operating under brunch hours
  • Library open limited hours
  • Employee second vaccination clinics are rescheduled to Saturday, Feb. 20 and moved to Centennial Hall in the Reng Student Union

Facilities Management personnel are working on campus to mitigate accumulations of snow, but on-campus students are reminded they need to be careful when walking between buildings.

Essential services for students living on campus remain operational, with Dining Services utilizing brunch hours at Acansa Dining Hall.  Limited food court stations in Reng Student Union will also be open each day during brunch hours.

The Dean B. Ellis Library will be open each day under inclement weather hours to assist students. The Red W.O.L.F. Center is closed.

All on-campus classes remain in remote course delivery for the rest of this week. Instructors are asked to reach out to their students as soon as practical to let them know how the learning material will be delivered.

Non-essential staff members and offices are encouraged to continue telework.

Due to the significant winter weather, both Moderna vaccine clinics for employees set for Tuesday, Feb. 16, are rescheduled to Saturday, Feb. 20, in Centennial Hall at the Reng Student Union.

The Woodsprings Pharmacy clinic will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the Daily Dose Pharmacy clinic will be from 2:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. Employees should receive an email to reschedule their appointment from Woodsprings Pharmacy or from Lori Winn on behalf of Daily Dose.

Please Note: The location for the vaccine clinic is moving to Centennial Hall in the Reng Student Union.  Employees can utilize the Union parking deck, but avoid the 24-hour reserved spots.  The entrance into the Union near Centennial Hall is located on the second floor of the parking deck.
