How important do you think the speed at which you respond to messages and emails is?
E.F. — It’s dependent on context. Announcement emails/messages don’t require responses, but any message or email with time sensitive information such as forms or sign-ups should be responded to with urgency.
R.B. — I think the response time is important especially depending on what the emails are about. The more significant the topic the faster the response time.
C.C. — I like to respond to any type of message as soon as I’m able to. When I wait it stays there in the back of my mind and kind of stresses me out.
K.F. — I feel like it’s pretty important, especially during the pandemic. That’s how we relay information to one another.
How important do you feel technology (specifically, the speed at which messages can be sent) has affected the way you respond to messages?
E.F. — It’s sped it up and given me the opportunity to actually receive these messages.
R.B. — Messages are sent relatively quickly which for the most part, if I am actively participating in the conversation, aids me in staying focused on what I’m doing/talking about.
C.C. — With messages being able to be sent as fast as they can, I definitely feel like I have to answer as soon as possible. Like how in a face-to-face conversation you immediately respond, I want to be able to immediately respond to a message.
K.F. — I don’t always respond as soon as I can. Once I read the message, I decide how urgently I need to send a response, if at all.
How does being able to access messages and information at any point in time make you feel?
E.F. — Generally uneasy.
R.B. — It makes me feel like no one is very far from me at any one moment. If I need to know something, or need assistance with anything, or simply just want to read out to someone I know they are just a simple message away.
C.C. — Great. I like being able to look something up at any point. I especially like it because I’m a person that doesn’t like to have to question things and if I sit on it too long I get bothered or stressed so being able to get an answer so quickly is really nice.
K.F — It makes me feel safer. I know that if someone needs me, or Vice versa, it won’t be hard to reach them.
