The prompt for this edition’s Art Block was: your ideal Halloween costume. Our content creators and opinion editor each did a piece based on this prompt. Below are their works.
Thinh Vu: Spider-Man

“I designed this costume as a way to express my admiration for Spider-man, or Peter Parker. Despite being a gifted genius, he has always tolerated a lot of hardship and low points during his life, and yet he can still crack jokes and be very optimistic about everything.
I chose to design this costume of Spider-man to be a budget version so that it would fit more for a teenager. Black and red colors are also what I usually combine in my everyday outfit, and they are the color theme of our school as well! A perfect opportunity!”
Thinh Vu is a junior computer science major from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Fran Bollinger: Pirate

“I’ve loved pirates since going to summer camp where we went on treasure hunts and had ‘sea battles’ on the lake. They are also easy to dress up as considering I have most of these items in my closet, and they are super fun to draw!”
Fran Bollinger is a senior interdisciplinary studies major with an emphasis in medical science from Little Rock.
Lily Cabibi-Wilkin: Spamton from Deltarune Chapter 2

“I played chapter two of Deltarune when it came out and I really loved Spamton’s whole vibe. He’s such a funny little guy and I wanted to be him for Halloween this year, but I couldn’t get all the costume parts together in time. Fun fact – there isn’t a version of Spamton’s blue brick background without him in it, so I had to edit the whole background together myself. It was more fun than you’d think!”
