Ordering Food On Campus Is A Frustrating Experience

The following survey was posted on the A-State Student app. Eight students responded: Brianna Kiplinger, a junior special education major from Jonesboro who lives in Northpark Quads; Destiny Taylor, a freshman zoology major from Little Elm, Texas who lives in Kays Hall; Noah Sanders, a sophomore mechanical engineering major from Sherwood who lives in the Honors/ROTC/STEM area; Bethany Plumb, a supersenior exercise science major from Poplar Bluff who lives in The Village; Kelley Fiesser, a junior English major from Warm Springs, Arkansas who lives in Red Wolf Den; Johnathan Hall, a junior computer science major from Little Rock who lives in Northpark Quads; Robyne Richards, a junior theatre major from Beebe who lives in Northpark Quads; and Laci McLemore, a clinical laboratory science major from Marmaduke, Arkansas who lives in Arkansas Hall.

How easy or hard would you say it is to have food delivered to you on campus, on a scale of one (very easy) to five (very hard)?

When you order food to a dorm on campus, how often does your delivery driver make it to your dorm unassisted?

Have you ever had to leave your dorm area and go to another part of campus to pick up a delivery order?

Four Students – Yes

Have you ever had a delivery driver call you and say they had arrived to drop off your order, but they were at a completely different location from campus?

Are gated areas ever an issue when ordering food to campus?

Five Students – Yes (These students live in Northpark Quads, Red Wolf Den, Kays Hall and The Village)
Three Students – No

Have you ever had food delivered to a building on campus that wasn’t a dorm? (i.e. the Student Union, the Business Building)

Seven Students – No
One Student – Yes (This student indicated it was because they were in said building at the time.)

Do you think there should be a centralized space on campus for people to order food to?

How important do you think it is to be able to have food delivered to campus, on a scale of one (not important) to five (extremely important)?

Do you have any horror/notable stories from ordering food on campus?

Brianna Kiplinger – I had to walk a mile to get my food.
Noah Sanders – It just takes a long time.

How do you think the food ordering experience on campus could be improved?

J. Hall – A localized area or have addresses more easily accessible for delivery drivers.
Robyne Richards – Having a designated place to have food delivery placed could be helpful.
Laci McLemore – My food is always cold but other than that it’s fine.
Destiny Taylor – The idea of a centralized place sounds awesome.
Kelly Fiesser – The addresses could definitely be clearer.
Brianna Kiplinger – An area to pick up food.
Noah Sanders – Speed.

Why do you think delivery drivers might struggle to deliver food to campus?

Kelley Fiesser – There are so many buildings with limited access, and they aren’t labeled very well. Not everyone knows the layout of campus.
Destiny Taylor – They can’t really differentiate between the places on campus to be honest. Most of the time they get confused.
Laci McLemore – It’s a big campus and they can’t get in the buildings.
Robyne Richards – Gated places can cause panic if not thought out first.
J. Hall – Finding the address to the building.
Brianna Kiplinger – Clearer addresses. Gated areas.
Noah Sanders – Addresses are difficult to get.

Any other thoughts?

Kelley Fiesser – Maybe they could have metered parking right outside the residence halls specifically for delivery drivers?
