Chris Jones, the 2022 Democratic candidate for governor of Arkansas, visited Arkansas State University on Friday to meet with students. A-State’s Young Democrats were present, handing out Chris Jones merchandise and speaking with him.
“I’ve had opportunity, and I want to make sure we provide opportunity for everybody, regardless of who you are or where you are,” Jones said when asked why he was running for governor. “And I see such great potential in this place that I want us to come together and realize our potential.”
If elected as governor, Jones plans to improve water and sewer infrastructure and facilitate economic development. He also plans to use his “PB&J approach”, focusing on Preschool, Broadband, and Jobs.
“The thing that really makes me qualified is that I’ve listened,” Jones said when describing why he is the best choice for governor. “I’ve traveled the state multiple times. I’ve listened to Arkansans and I’ve heard their voices. I really want to fight to make space for their voice at the table.”
Jones encouraged young people to vote.
“Young voters often don’t vote, but when they do, things change. We need young folks to vote,” Jones said. “The reality is you’re not voting for someone else’s future, young folks are voting for their own future and we need them helping to shape their future now.”
