The Arkansas State University Student Art Union collaborated with the Bradbury Art Museum in hosting the Halloween Art Bash tote bag fundraiser.

The event, intended to raise money and engage students through fun events, was held in the Reng Student Union on Oct. 23. The Student Art Union sold tote bags with handmade designs and informed the community about their future Halloween events.

Addison Fithen, a sophomore accounting major from Lepanto, Arkansas, said the tote bag event was intended to raise money for the Halloween Bash.

“This is the second ever tote bag fundraiser and we’re selling them for $5, so it’s fairly reasonable and it’s a fun way to help out fellow students,” Fithen said. 

Stephanie Ramirez, a sophomore studio arts major from Jonesboro, said the art club hand-painted all the tote bags. 

“Everybody gets collaborative and has fun with it,” Ramirez said. “We do these sales to make funding for our next event and we want to make the most funding we can at the beginning so that way we can continue to use it later in the year.” 

Money raised from the tote bag event will be used to fund the Halloween Art Bash.

The art bash will include a variety of activities, including pumpkin painting, trunk or treat, face painting and a costume contest. The event will also offer free food and drink.

Lilly Crawford, a sophomore art education major from Shelbyville, Texas, said the art bash will be a  fun event for everyone to attend. Crawford said she enjoys seeing everyone show up in costumes because people can get very creative with their designs.

“This is for the community really and there’s going to be a bunch of things for people to interact with and it’s meant to be a safe and happy place,” Crawford said. 

The Halloween Art Bash will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 in the Windgate Center for Three-Dimensional Arts.
