Campus Crime Nov. 6

Nov. 3 | 6:27 p.m.

Officer Christopher Sewell was dispatched to a call regarding a parking lot accident in front of the Red WOLF center.

Upon arrival, Sewell made contact with the complainant who said he was sitting in his car when the silver Honda in front of him rolled back and hit his silver Ford Mustang.

Upon observation, Sewell noticed the silver Honda Fit in front of him was locked and unoccupied, sitting perfectly in the parking spot the car was parked in.

Sewell then had the complainant complete a statement of what had happened. While he was filling out the form the victim, and owner of the silver Honda, walked up and said she got a call from the University Police Department that her car was involved in a parking lot accident.

Sewell explained to the victim what the complainant had told him about her car rolling back into his.

The victim said it was not possible for her car to have rolled back and unlocked her vehicle, showing her parking brake was set.

Sewell then had the victim fill out a statement form and told her to mention in it where she was when this had happened.

Sewell then was able to pull campus camera footage and see the complainant hit the victim’s car, rather than what the complainant had said.

Nov. 2 | 4:13 p.m.

Officer Robert Kary was dispatched to the First National Bank Arena in reference to a private property accident.

Upon arrival, Kary spoke to a witness who said she was walking to the arena when she saw a woman hit a Toyota Rav 4 with her vehicle while parking. The witness said she saw the woman finish parking and look at the damage to her car and the other car.

The witness said the woman got back in her vehicle, a silver Buick Enclave, before backing out of the parking space and driving away.

The silver Buick was located a short time later in another parking space a few rows back.

Pictures were taken of the damages to both vehicles and an attempt was made to contact both drivers but there was no success.

An accident exchange form and business cards were placed on the windshield of both vehicles with contact information for the University Police Department.

Nov. 1 | 10:52 a.m.

While patrolling the intersection of Alumni Boulevard and University Loop West, Sgt. Chase Barnett observed a vehicle fail to stop at the posted stop sign on University Loop.

Barnett then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.

Upon approach, the arrestee said his license was suspended.

Barnett returned to his vehicle and ran the information provided and saw he was suspended for failure to pay fines and that he had been issued a citation for it on Oct. 24.

Barnett had the arrestee exit the vehicle and placed him under arrest for driving on a suspended license. The arrestee was searched for weapons before being placed in handcuffs.

He was transported to Craighead County Detention Center and turned over to their custody.

Oct. 31 | 11:14 p.m.

Officer Heidi Custodio responded to 1809 Aggie Rd. in reference to a domestic disturbance in progress.

Upon arriving, Custodio witnessed a Black female in a white shirt at the intersection of State Street and Aggie Road. Custodio proceeded into the apartment where Lt. Daniel Bradway and Sgt. Jeremy Oswalt made contact with the victim.

Custodio asked for the description of the individual involved and the victim said it was a Black female with dreadlocks and possibly a white shirt.

Custodio then left the apartment to make contact with the individual she had seen before entering.

Custodio made contact with the woman and identified her as the arrestee.

The arrestee was escorted her back to the apartment where she placed her in the rear passenger seat of the patrol unit.

Custodio transported the arrestee to the Craighead County Detention Center where the arrestee was turned over to the booking staff and banned from campus
