Officer Heidi Custodio responded to St. Bernards Emergency Department in reference to a sexual assault that occurred on campus. Upon arrival she made contact with the victim who said the assault took place from 11:30 p.m. to 12 p.m. the day before. She said the suspect is the ex-boyfriend of her roommate and he was staying the night from Feb. 6 to Feb. 7. The victim said when she came back from work at 10 a.m. Feb. 7, the suspect was still there. She said she went to take a nap in her room and he laid in the bed with her. The victim said she was half asleep when she was woken up by the suspect pulling her on top of him. Custodio said the victim did not want to give more information on what occurred after. Custodio asked if the suspect penetrated her, in which the victim said yes. She then asked the victim if at any point she told him no, in which she said yes and it was not consensual. After speaking with victim and the sexual assault advisors, the victim said she didn’t want to file charges against the suspect and refused to fill out a voluntary statement. The victim also refused counseling services and advised that she would seek counseling through the Craighead Victim Advocacy Center. The suspect is not a student at A-State.
Feb. 8 | 8:59 a.m.
A blue Chevy Silverado carrying a trailer with the Arkadelphia, Arkansas school logo on it drove through the entrance of the parking garage, catching the clearance beam and damaging it. The driver of the vehicle found it difficult to park and exited on the other side. Later the truck and trailer were located behind the Fine Arts center. Officer Robert Kary went in to see if he could locate a representative of the Arkadelphia School District. The driver of the truck was identified as the suspect. He said he didn’t see the beam when he came through and after noticing the damage he was unsure who to contact about it. The suspect wrote a statement and provided insurance info for the truck and said he would have to get with the school to provide insurance information for the trailer.
Feb. 6 | 7:47 p.m.
The Jonesboro Police Department (JPD) responded to the intersection of Johnson and Rogers in reference to a motor vehicle accident hit and run. When reviewing the cameras officer Heidi Custodio saw the vehicle leave the parking garage. Upon further review she saw the suspects vehicle collide with a concrete column in the parking garage at around 5:12 p.m. Around 7:45 p.m., the vehicle was seen leaving the parking garage with significant damage to the front passenger side bumper and headlight. Custodio notified JPD of the camera footage. Upon review of the damage to the concrete column in the parking garage, there was significant damage as well as debris from the vehicle. After speaking with Captain Billy Branch, the suspect received a university referral for dishonesty for lying to law enforcement officers.
