The first ever Greek Block party connecting the Greek Tri-Council was held with five sororities, nine fraternities and the Divine Nine present at the event.
Cornhole, spikeball, snow cones, pizza, music and more were available behind the Greek Row.
Alpha Tau Omega member Karson Denton, a junior wildlife conservation major from Batesville, Arkansas, said he attended the event because he thought it’d be fun.
“It’s a big Greek event. I love being a Greek, first off, and then just helping participate in everything,” Denton said.
Denton said that the Tri-Council event is important because it brings everyone together and signals unity.

With Howl on the Hardwood and Order of the Pack, the Greek organizations are pitted against each other but with the block party, the organizations came together.
The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) president and member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, Sydney Byrd, said the presidents had been talking about doing a Greek wide event where they could all be a community instead of in competition with each other.
“We wanted an event where we can all just come together and hang out with each other,” the junior elementary education major from Jonesboro, said. “Events like this bring everyone together and creates a Greek life community, which is what A-State really means: Everyone coming together for one purpose.”
Byrd said her favorite part about being part of NPC was recruitment.
“I was able to have my own Gamma Chi group and have my own girls and just kind of be their big sister for the week. That was amazing. It was such a good experience,” Byrd said.
She also said that her favorite part of her sorority was the whole Big/Little process.
“I found some of my best friends through Big/Little selections. I have two littles and getting them and growing those friendships and with all of the new PC that was under me,” Byrd said.
Byrd said that being NPC president lets her have a hand in A-State as a community.
“I feel like it’s so important to love each other. Because I feel like there’s a lot of back and forth between certain houses and things like that. I think that’s why I love NPC so much because everyone comes together as a community,” Byrd said.
Byrd said that with her being NPC president, she tries to put away her sorority affiliation so people don’t just see her sorority but instead her connection that has grown down the row.
“Things like this are so important and going to philanthropy events and things like that are so important,” Byrd said.
The Tri-Council event hosted members from every Greek organization on campus. The attendees mingled with each other whether that be in their council or outside of it, it was a great way for members of Greek life to meet new people and grow connections with each other.
