Oct. 11 | 9:31 p.m.
At approximately 7:21 p.m., Patrolman Marcus Caskey was dispatched to the Red Wolf Center regarding a male student, the complainant, who requested police assistance. He asked that an officer accompany him to his apartment to stand by while his ex-girlfriend retrieved her belongings.
Upon arrival, Caskey made contact with the complainant, who said that he and his ex-girlfriend, the suspect, had been involved in an argument earlier in the parking lot of Collegiate Park. He requested police presence while she returned to gather her belongings.
The complainant said that, during the argument, the suspect grabbed the sleeve of his shirt, and he pushed her hands away. He stated that, afterward, she struck him on the left side of his chest. The complainant also said that he did not wish to press charges and that she did not strike him hard.
Caskey escorted the complainant to Collegiate Park. Upon arrival, Caskey asked the complainant to show him where he had been struck. He lifted his shirt, and Caskey observed no visible marks, scratches, or other signs of a physical altercation.
The complainant reiterated that he did not wish to press charges and only wanted the suspect to collect her belongings and leave.
The complainant entered the residence, and Caskey followed him inside. Shortly afterward, the suspect arrived to retrieve her belongings. During the time both parties were present in the apartment, neither became aggressive or confrontational.
The suspect gathered her belongings and left the area on foot without further incident.
Upon reviewing security camera footage from approximately 7:05 p.m., the complainant and suspect were observed on the south pole camera in the parking lot of Collegiate Park, appearing to exchange words. The footage shows the suspect striking the complainant in the chest with an open hand.
Caskey attempted to track the suspect on camera to determine her location and arrest her, as well as giving her a University Referral for assault. The suspect was observed walking on foot toward the North Park Quads parking lot near the exit gate. However, Caskey was unable to locate her entering any building or other parking area after losing visual contact on camera.
Caskey attempted to contact the suspect by phone using the number listed with the university, but the number was no longer in service.
Oct. 10 | 2:29 a.m.
At 1:14 a.m., Corporal Heidi Custodio witnessed an individual walking in the middle of the roadway on Marion Berry. The individual attempted to move out of the roadway when he saw a vehicle approach him.
In doing so, the individual started to stumble into the grassy area beside the road. At the intersection of Marion Berry and Aggie Road, Custodio got out of her vehicle to address the individual and was able to identify him as the suspect.
During this time, Custodio could smell intoxicants coming from the suspect. The suspect said that he was headed to the “ATO” fraternity house to meet friends. When questioned on alcohol consumption, the suspect initially advised he had not been drinking.
The suspect said that he had approximately three drinks. At this time, Custodio performed a portable breath test with results of .102, meaning his functionality was significantly impaired.
At approximately 1:16 a.m. Custodio placed the suspect under arrest.
Oct. 10 | 12:42 a.m.
At approximately 10:02 p.m., Patrolman Marcus Caskey was dispatched to Kays Hall regarding a student who was moving from one room to another room on a different floor within the same building.
The student requested a police presence due to an ongoing conflict with his roommate, fearing a possible physical altercation. UPD Dispatch also told Caskey prior to arrival that the roommates were separating as part of an active Title IX investigation.
Upon arrival, Caskey proceeded to the third floor, where he made contact with the complainant, Associated Person One and Associated Person Two. They said that while assisting the complainant with moving his belongings, Suspect One had been aggressive, and both the complainant and the suspect had been yelling at each other.
They requested that Caskey accompany them to the room to ensure the peace while they collected the remainder of the complainant’s belongings.
Upon arrival, the complainant, Associated Person One and Associated Person Two entered the room while Caskey stood in the doorway observing. Inside the room, Suspect One, Suspect Two and Suspect Three were seated on the left side, while the complainant and his associates gathered his belongings.
During this time, the complainant and Suspect One exchanged passive-aggressive remarks, but neither acted aggressively or raised their voice.
Once the move was complete, Caskey escorted the complainant, Associated Person One and Associated Person Two to the complainant’s new room. While unpacking, they noticed that a strip of LED lights belonging to the complainant had been damaged. They said that Suspect One had removed the lights from the wall and damaged them in the process.
The complainant said that he had not given the suspects permission to move any of his belongings. Caskey remembered hearing Suspect One mention that he had placed some of the complainant’s belongings on his bed.
They then returned to the complainant’s old room to collect the remaining items. Caskey asked the suspects if they had moved any of the complainant’s property, and they all denied doing so. Caskey then showed them the damaged LED light strip and asked again if they had moved any of the complainant’s belongings and they again denied it.
Caskey informed them that he would be issuing a student referral for a residence hall violation.
Oct. 9 | 4:34 p.m.
At 12:05 p.m., Officer Robert Kary was dispatched to the Arkansas State University Dispatch window to take a report of a residential burglary that occurred at North Park Quads East Building 4.
Upon arrival, Kary spoke with the victim, who said she had become friends with a group of males who attend Williams Baptist College. She said she had recently hung out with the males, and one of them, identified as the associated person, had left his student ID in her room. The victim stated she had expected him to return to retrieve the ID, but he did not show up.
The victim stated that she normally leaves her dorm room unlocked and was in another dorm room for the night with a friend. The victim became aware that someone had entered her dorm room, taken photos and videos of her undergarments, and subsequently distributed the images online.
The victim believes that one of the individuals involved is the suspect and provided a screenshot of his student ID.
Campus security cameras were reviewed. The footage shows that at 12:52 a.m., a student later identified as the Associated Person, walked up to the entry door at North Park Quads East Building 4 and looked around before allowing six males into the building.
One of the individuals entering the building matches the photo on the Williams Baptist Student ID, identified as the suspect. These individuals proceeded to the third floor and entered the victim’s room. They exited the room at approximately 12:55 a.m. and left the building at approximately 12:56 a.m..
Oct. 9 | 2:24 a.m.
Thursday at approximately 12:34 a.m., Corporal Heidi Custodio was dispatched to University Hall regarding a student receiving harassing messages.
Upon arrival, Custodio made contact with the victim. Custodio had her fill out a statement form and advised her to provide screenshots of the messages. The victim advised that the individual keeps texting her and knows a lot of information about her family and her personal life.
The messages started around 9:22 p.m. She told Custodio she was worried because the individual messaging her knew her vehicle and wanted her to come to her alone. She stressed that she was worried about her safety and that she did not know who it could be. The victim said her boyfriend was also receiving calls from an unknown caller.
