Fashion crimes of 2025

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but fashion is where people seem to have the most opinions. Here, I would like to note the atrocities I consider fashion crimes.

Starting strong, Bogg Bags; they are unusually big, inconvenient and an eyesore. They do not have pockets, which makes them even more annoying to carry around, as you can never put small items like lip gloss in them. If I may be so bold, they are simply ugly.

Similarly disgusting are Crocs. Crocs have been around for years and are known for their comfort and accessibility. You can slip them on and go on your way, whether you are venturing off to a muddy path or water, as they are made of Croslite foam resin, which is easily washable.

Convenience doesn’t mean it is fashionable. There have been numerous discussions about the look of Crocs. Some people like to dress them up with pins, but they still look odd. They are chunky and resemble duck lips.

Moving on from the topic of this week’s poll, we have skinny jeans. Popular in the early 2000s, skinny jeans are tied to Y2K fashion trends, but they still don’t look comfortable for day-to-day wear.

Trends tie heavily to this opinion because people follow what they see being portrayed by celebrities or something trending on the internet. But the 2000s have been out for the past 25 years, skinny jeans should be too.

Y2K gave us glorious low-rise or flared jeans. Most people can pull it off; with the right top or accessories, you can make them look very stylish, but it depends on what you style it with. Skinny jeans are heavy on styling and look tacky.

One other trend that has taken the internet by storm is Labubus. It is not Labubu that is the problem; it is the fact that people think it is cute to hang them as keychains. Keep the devilish smile at home, where you can appreciate its cuteness, alone.

The variations that have come out over the years do not help their case either. It is becoming increasingly common to see these creatures being used as keychains or even being hung from excessively baggy jeans.

All that being said, what you wear speaks volumes about who you are, so don’t be afraid to express yourself through your fashion. Nobody’s opinion, no matter how right or wrong they are, should sway you from how you want to present yourself.

It is merely personal preference, and honestly, unusual fashion is what makes people so unique; it tells us about their interests and personality. So whether you want to rock out in Crocs filled with pins, or have Labubus hanging down your cropped skinny jeans, be my guest.
