What to do if you see ICE

ICE (U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement) sightings have become a problem recently in America, ranging from forceful entry into people’s private residences without a warrant, to point-blank shooting civilians.

If you live in a major city or in areas where there have been ICE sightings, it’s normal to be scared and concerned about your safety, as it is no longer a matter of who or what is legal or illegal. As an amateur survivalist, let me give you some tips on how you can take precautions when ICE shows up in your neighborhood.

First things first, you need to remember there are more of you than them. Now, I know they have lethal weapons, but I am not telling you to fight them. If you see them arresting or pinning someone down, tell them to yell out their information, address and family names, so their loved ones can locate them and find out which center they’ll be hauled off to.

If you can, only if it is safe to do so, try to steer agents away from the person they are targeting. There have been cases where people have been able to get away because crowds help protect them, letting them go through crowds so they can safely get away.

Understand the fact that they cannot enter your home without a valid warrant. They may flash you a piece of paper that looks like a warrant, but sometimes it’s facetious, so do your research, contact your lawyer and know what a warrant actually looks like.

Before I continue further, I feel it necessary to note I do not support crime or criminals. But more often than not, we have seen ICE take people hostage who have done nothing but work hard to provide for their families.

Instead of subjecting people to mental and oftentimes physical, torture, how about we help them get proper documentation and education so they can live with us without fear. America was not built by the white man; it was built up by immigrants.

One thing ICE officers have started doing is this incredibly original self-defense technique where they pepper-spray you in the face! If you are attending ICE protests, I highly suggest wearing masks, not only to protect yourself from fumes but also to minimize your chances of being recognized.

The important thing is not only educating yourself but also the people around you. Keep yourself aware of the horrifying things they’re doing, not because it’s coming up on your TikTok but because you need to understand what is happening to people around you.

Be educated as to who these people are, what they have done to people up until now, and what you can do to help. You may dislike your neighbors or your co-workers, but they are humans too, they are people who simply want a better life for themselves and their families.
