Finals season is quickly approaching and that means cleaning your dorm might be falling to the back burner. Here are some quick and easy ways you can tidy up your dorm room that don’t make you feel too overwhelmed and don’t take too terribly long.
- Get rid of old and expired snacks/food. Make sure you go through whatever you keep your food in and check the dates on everything. Leftovers, depending on what it is, usually are only good for three to four days, so make sure you get rid of anything older than that.
- Change your sheets and make your bed. This one might seem a little obvious but if you’re like me, you don’t make your bed everyday even though you probably should. If you have a set of clean sheets ready, changing the sheets shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes. In a dorm room, having clean sheets and a made bed can make the space look so much cleaner.
- Clean off your desk. It’s so easy to just dump stuff on your desk and keep letting it pile up. Cleaning off your desk not only helps your room look clean but it also gives you more space to do work in your room.
- Sweep or vacuum. Another obvious one, but something that often falls to the wayside when you get busy. It’s a small tack but it really does make all the difference in a small room where dust and hair seem to never disappear.
- Donate what you don’t want or no longer use. Spring finals season also means moving out for summer is right around the corner. Having less clutter and things you no longer use or want not only opens up space in your room but also makes it less you have to pack up when you move back home.
