Members of Alpha Omicron Pi hold up the Golden Wolf award at the 2024 Order of the Pack. In 2025, Order of the Pack was held in First National Bank arena due to weather. It will be back at the football stadium this year.
After playing in front of a sold-out crowd in Memphis, the Arkansas State Red Wolves will come home to play Western Georgia in their home opener Saturday.
Before Saturday’s kickoff, the Student Activities Board (SAB) will host Order of the Pack at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Centennial Bank Stadium. The Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce will host the Great A-State Block Party downtown from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Order of the Pack
Order of the Pack is SAB’s annual football home-opener pep rally. While primarily geared toward members of Greek life, the event is open to all students in a registered student organization.
The event is a competition between members of Greek life, with National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), Interfraternity Council (IFC) and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) chapters randomly partnered.
The Golden Wolf Award goes to the Greek team that shows the most school spirit. Last year, the Greek team of Chi Omega, Kappa Alpha and Phi Beta Sigma won.
Beyond competing for the Golden Wolf, Order of the Pack helps build student excitement for Saturday’s home opener. The chancellor, A-State athletic teams, band, cheerleaders and dance team will make appearances throughout the event.
Student section and homecoming themes will also be announced at Order of the Pack.
Gates open at 7 p.m., with a small tailgate in Tailgate City starting at 6 p.m. for Order of the Pack.
Paint the Town Red and The Great A-State Block Party
From Sept. 9 to 12, Paint the Town Red Week will get the city of Jonesboro ready for A-State’s football season and its home opener.
Each year, business owners, organization members and residents compete in a decorating contest across the city of Jonesboro and the A-State campus, including Greek Row.
The judges—Barb Jones, wife of football coach Butch Jones; Reagan Silva, wife of baseball coach Mike Silva; and Marisol Pezman, wife of Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Chris Pezman—will judge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 10 to determine the winner.
The decorating contest winners will be announced at the Great A-State Block Party downtown.
During the block party, local band Bloodhound will play, and restaurants and stores will be open along the closed street. The A-State band and spirit squads will also attend.
Members of the Jonesboro and A-State communities will speak at the event to encourage support for the Red Wolves during their season.
The block party will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Game Day
While kickoff is not until 6 p.m, Saturday, country singer Lauren Alaina will perform a free concert in Tailgate City immediately after the 3:45 p.m. Red Wolf Walk.
Before the game, students can hang out in The Pines with friends before heading to the student section for kickoff.
Following the game, a fireworks show over the stadium will cap off a week of events leading up to the Red Wolves’ first home game of the season.
