Family Weekend will take place Sept. 25 through Sept. 27. This weekend prioritizes giving families the opportunity to attend events with their students, bringing the community together and showing Red Wolf Spirit.
Haley Cummings, associate director of new student and faculty programs, said the purpose of family weekend is for students to show their parents around Jonesboro and the Arkansas State University campus.
“It is really special to see them bring their families into (campus) and show them the places, people and experiences that have become important to them,” Cummings said. “It gives our students the opportunity to share their A-State experience with the people who have supported them along the way, while also allowing families to experience for themselves what it means to be part of the Red Wolf community.”
The available events Friday, Sept. 25 include the ‘More Than Human’ exhibit at the Bradbury Art Museum and Oktoberfest at Native Brew Works. Both of these events will be available Friday and Saturday.
Families can end the day with the women’s volleyball game against the University of Louisiana Monroe at 6 p.m. The game will be held at First National Bank Arena.
This weekend is a great way to make memories on and off campus. The Northeast Arkansas District Fair will run from Sept. 24 to Oct. 3 in Jonesboro. This annual event will feature rides, food, livestock, and games.
“Family Weekend doesn’t always line up with so many community events, so I’m really excited that our families will have the opportunity to experience both A-State and the wider Jonesboro community while they’re here,” Cummings said.
