MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD

The hit comedy sitcom “Abbot Elementary” has returned for season six. The show premiered Oct. 7 on ABC.

Season five left me with a burning question that many other viewers had as well: “Is Gregory going to propose to Janine?”

When the season ended Gregory was seriously considering taking their relationship to the next level. Based on the fact that he and Janine are still going strong in the first episode of season six, I think he is still planning on doing so.

My theory is that even though Janine has grown so much as a person and as a teacher she will start questioning whether she’s ready for marriage and that may complicate things between her and Gregory. Her ex-boyfriend Tariq may also return to make things difficult too, just like he has done in past seasons. Regardless of if they get engaged or not, I’m definitely team Janine and Gregory and I hope everything works out between them in the end.

Another theory I have is that since Gregory has stepped into the role of assistant principal, he and Ava are going to have issues sharing responsibilities. Gregory was appointed assistant principal in the season 5 finale, and he was not playing around with his title in the newest episode. Ava may continue to question if Gregory is doing a better job than her in the upcoming episodes.

Ava and Gregory are a hilarious duo but they have two very different approaches when it comes to being a leader.

With Gregory being assistant principal, I’m curious to see how that is going to affect his relationship with Janine, since HR doesn’t like her and there is a new teacher in Gregory’s old classroom.

This is definitely something I noticed in the first episode when Gregory gets the AC for the school by doing things his own way which made Ava confused. This may cause them to bump heads a lot during the season, which will be funny, but may also cause problems.

In episode one the teachers are preparing for a new school year. I love how this show represents teachers and the hard work they put in to make school special for their students.

I thought the premiere was a slow start to the new season. I found it hilarious that Barbra was jamming out to an AI created song without knowing. I also love Jacob and Barbara as a duo. The two of them are so funny and I can’t wait to see more of them in upcoming episodes.

I’m also excited to see Janine and Barbra’s mentor-mentee relationship grow in this season. I think Barbra will continue to help Janine in many ways, especially if Gregory pops the question.

Actress Katy Mixon plays Elsa Hardaway, a new teacher who butts heads with Melissa in the newest episode. It surprised me that Elsa’s interest in Morton was the reason Melissa got her classroom back from her. I think she is going to be a great addition to the Abbott cast.

Since “Abbott Elementary’s” debut in 2021, the show has grown tremendously and become one of television’s most watched comedies. The ABC sitcom also won multiple Emmys and has been praised for being an outstanding comedy series. The main cast all returned to reprise their iconic roles in 22 half-hour long episodes.

The sitcom has a very broad target audience. With the combination of humor for Gen Z watchers and references for Millennials and Generation X. There is something for everyone to enjoy when watching this show. I think the show is a perfect watch for everyone regardless of age.

“Abbott Elementary” is available every Wednesday on ABC and every Thursday on Hulu and Disney Plus.
