For classes such as Fine Arts Theatre or Recital Attendance, students are required to go to certain events, such as plays or music recitals. Some of these events (especially the plays) require the purchase of a ticket. While ticket prices range from $10-$20, and that money benefits the arts departments on campus, for some students that price is not feasible. Though students without funds have the opportunity to sign up to usher the plays, there are only so many spots for ushers. Not attending these events will have a negative impact on that student’s grade. Should students be given free passes to shows they are required to see for a class, or should they still be charged for the show?
Out of 37 participants, three people thought students should have to pay for shows and 34 thought students should not have to pay for shows.
