Following an auto accident in the post office parking lot, the involved parties were told to meet officers at the University Police station. Upon arrival, they were asked to give their statements regarding the accident. Lauren Rust, 26, told officers she’d backed into the vehicle of Dakota Lambert, 19, while his vehicle was parked. Rust’s trunk lid had minor damage, and there was no visible damage on Lambert’s truck. The pair took pictures and exchanged information.

University Police responded to a call from the Northpark Quads on March 4 after a student called to report a theft. According to Julia Moore, 19, she’d been doing her laundry on the evening of March 1. Around 8:20 p.m., she went back to the laundry room to move a load of clothes from the washer to the dryer. She laid a pair of leggings on a washing machine, and forgot to grab them as she left. She came back to get them, but when she returned, she found them gone.

Officers responded just after midnight Sunday to the McDonald’s restaurant on East Johnson, after a 911 call was made about a man passed out in his vehicle in the drive-through. Police made their way to the scene, and were directed to the vehicle in question by other drive-through patrons. Approaching the driver, they found him to be awake but sluggish and not very responsive. He seemed to be confused by questions the officers asked, and his eyes were bloodshot. Further, officers could smell the “slight odor of intoxicants”. Witnesses told them the vehicle had been sitting at the drive-through speaker for nearly 10 minutes.
An assessment was done to ensure the driver, Johnathan Johninson, 23, wasn’t suffering a medical emergency. When Johninson told officers he wasn’t on medication, but that he had a few beers while out with friends, the officers began to conduct field sobriety tests on him. When he got out of his car, the smell of alcohol “became stronger”. Statements were collected from witnesses, and after the field sobriety test results suggested he was impaired, police took a breathalyzer test which confirmed he was under the influence. Johninson was taken into custody and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center, where a test determined his BAC to be .076%. The legal limit is .08%, but due to the circumstances police found him in, Johninson was charged with driving while intoxicated and given a court date. His car was towed.
