Feb. 10 5:46 p.m.
University Police were dispatched to Parking Lot N-3 on Johnson Avenue to assist Emerson Ambulance Services with a combative patient. Icyphine Hunter was attempting to hit and kick William Brown. She was secured in handcuffs to protect the ambulance staff and transported to NEA Baptist Hospital for treatment.
Upon arrival, Hunter was aggressive towards the medical staff, and they asked the officer to wait until the medicine administered started to calm her down.
Brown told the officer he did not want to press charges, and it was later determined that Hunter was suffering from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
Feb. 11 12:13 p.m.
University Police were dispatched to North Park Quad Building 4 in response to a fire alarm. Officers went to the room indicated by the fire panel which was filled with smoke. Jonesboro Fire Department cleared the building, and an officer waited for the resident of the room to return. Matthew McKinney told him he only had his piece of cookie cake in the microwave for 30 seconds when the alarm went off. He found the cookie cake in the trash can, burnt to a char. McKinney received a university referral for forcing everyone to evacuate in below freezing temperatures due to his negligence.
Feb. 12 6:40 p.m.
During a basketball game in First National Bank Arena, Darius Eskridge began to cause a disturbance in the bleachers. Several officers responded, and he became combative with them, causing minor injury to two of the arresting officers and spitting on another.
Eskridge was arrested for aggravated assault on a correctional facility employee, second degree battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Feb. 13 6:09 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to an apartment after a report of loud noise. The complainant told the officers she was unsure if the noise coming from the neighboring apartment was domestic related. The officers made contact with the victim, 23, who told them she had been crying and that upset her boyfriend, 22.
As he started to get upset, the victim locked herself in the bedroom. She said her boyfriend had been screaming, banging on the door and making a mess, but he had not made any physical contact. They observed a trash can that had been dumped and trash covering the kitchen floor. The victim spoke to the on-call counselor and was provided a Laura’s Card, which states the rights domestic violence victims hold in Arkansas.
A person non grata form for the boyfriend was filed, and he was advised that he was trespassing on the property. A copy was sent to student conduct as well.
