Even through the inclement weather this week, the Arkansas State University football team hasn’t allowed it to affect their practices too much.

Sophomore cornerback Samy Johnson said, “Practice has been limited for us. It’s been very hard to get to and from practice every day. It’s been really hard to learn plays right now, due to those meetings being on zoom. We can’t really lift weights either. It’s kind of taking a physical toll.”

Johnson, a Little Rock native, seemed upset due to not being able to go full out, but he sees the positives in the situation. Johnson doesn’t see this weather affecting early spring workouts in the long run as long as it only stays these few days. He’s worried that if it continues, then his thoughts may change.

“Mentally, this kind of drives one person insane, sitting in the same spot pretty much all day,” Johnson said. “It makes me miss the game even more Physically, this kind of weather always affects people. It makes me feel sick and tired all of the time.”

Johnson said one great thing that’s come from this weather is that the team has gotten a lot closer.

“We are now always hanging out,” Johnson said. “We got a lot of new transfers and none of us have really got to bond with them just yet. Since things haven’t been as crazy, we’ve been going to each other places, playing video games, just chilling. It’s been really nice actually getting to know them.”
