The Dean B. Ellis Library welcomed a new coffee option, The Aspretto Coffee Cart, for students and faculty to enjoy.

The Aspretto Coffee cart offered one free small cup of coffee for those who attended its opening Monday.

The coffee cart sells various food options, such as packaged sandwiches, salads, yogurt parfaits and more. They also have an assortment of bottled beverages like water, energy drinks and sodas.

The coffee cart will soon introduce espresso beverages later this week, but as of right now, they have light, dark and decaf coffees.

Renee Ramsey, the coffee cart’s operator, is also acting as the temporary manager.

“This is great for the students to have,” Ramsey said. “I think they will really enjoy (the coffee cart).”

Brilee Petty, a senior biology major from Humboldt, Tennessee and Erin Inman, a senior biology major from Poplar Bluff, Missouri, are two friends who tried the coffee cart together.

Petty said the new coffee cart makes it easier to get food or caffeine quickly, especially since it’s a lot closer to her.

“We only have one good break in between class so we can run over here and get it,” Petty said. “We don’t have to worry about the hustle and bustle of the Union and having to go around everyone. We can just stop here to get coffee in between class.”

Inman said it was nice to have something like this again since the removal of the library’s original assortment of grab-and-go options.

“This being here is going to make things a lot easier for those who are here for a long time studying,” Inman said. “Being able to come and grab what you need and not have to leave the library and lose study time is great.”

The new coffee cart is located in the entrance foyer of the library and opens Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
