It’s 1 p.m., you just got your Chick-fil-A. The Coke Freestyle stands before you, in all its glory, with all its endless combinations. The million-dollar question is: what do you get?
I have the answers you are seeking. Dr. Pepper, the ultimate soda, should always be your first pick. The machines in the Reng Student Union only offer you five premade sodas to choose from: some are reminiscent of the flavor of melted acid while others will transport you to ultimate flavortown.
#5 Strawberry
This is dead last. I could barely take a sip of this let alone get a full cup’s worth of this sludge. Dr. Pepper let me down with this flavor. This is what I imagine a melted battery would taste like. It was so jarring of an experience I almost threw up when this monstrosity of flavor touched my delicate taste buds. The only time I would ever buy this drink would be to torture my worst enemy with it.
#4 Cherry
This flavor is not as bad as the strawberry flavor but it is certainly not my favorite by far. Cherry is not a safe flavoring, instead, it is a hit or miss and all together it just doesn’t seem to go with Dr. Pepper’s unique flavor.
#3 Cherry Vanilla
Now we are getting into flavors I would recommend. I know I just dissed cherry, and by itself, it does truly suck. However, when you pair it with the smooth taste of vanilla it makes a fun combination. Would I get this drink every day? No. But this is a fun drink I would enjoy once or twice a week.
#2 Original
I know they say nothing can beat the original but sometimes things can. As much as I do love the spicy goodness of a cold Dr. Pepper. It lacks the smoothness that the number one holder has. However, the original crispness of Dr. Pepper will always hold a special place in my cold, Dr. Pepper flavored, heart.
#1 Vanilla
This is my go-to, my favorite. I would marry this flavor if I could. The taste is like how vanilla extract smells. Dr. Pepper is itself a combination soda, made up of so many different flavors that a little strong kick of vanilla brings everything together. It is like how a cracker and jam is good by itself, but sometimes all you need is a piece of cheese to tie everything together. If I could kiss the person who made this flavoring I would.
