Arkansas State men’s golf closed out their spring slate with a commanding win at the A-State Spring Invitational.
In round one of the tournament, Cole Kirby shot a hole-in-one on par 3 at the fifteenth hole. Kirby finished 1-under-par on the round.
Jake Lile led round one with 6-under-par, highlighted by an eagle on the fifth hole par-5. Lile carried the momentum onto round two 5-under-par to stay atop the day’s leaderboard, shooting another birdie on another par-5 for the tenth hole.

In Tuesday’s final round of the tournament, A-State stayed in the lead but the player leaderboard changed. Jack Maxey scored a birdie on hole five from the bunker and finished the third and final round 8-under-par and first overall.
Arkansas State led the tournament in both eagles (or better) and birdies, scoring four eagles (or better) and 73 birdies, 17 more than Southeastern Louisiana who ranked second for birdies.
All five players in the lineup placed within the top ten. Jack Maxey, Jake Lile and Thomas Schmidt claimed the top three with 12-under, 11-under and 7-under respectively. Chris Somerfield and Jake Wallis tied for seventh at 2-under.
The Red Wolves won the Spring Invitational with a program record low 54-hole total of 36 under par. Jack Maxey finished the three rounds 12-under for the whole tournament, giving him first overall in the match, taking the individual medalist honors.
The team heads to the Sun Belt Conference Championship in Madison, Mississippi on April 21, aiming to secure back-to-back conference titles.
