An EF-3 tornado touched down Saturday, March 28, leaving 22 people with minor injuries and two individuals hospitalized. Along with Gateway Tire, Magic Touch cleaners, and many billboards, several stores in the mall were detrimentally harmed. First responders were on the scene within the hour to search and rescue, as well as join the command center to set a plan in place for clearing the wreckage.

The tornado destroyed popular spots around Jonesboro. Due to the closings as a result of the coronavirus, many news reporters, first responders, and store workers say it was fortunate hundreds of people were not injured in the wreckage of the tornado.
