Arkansas State soccer battled Alabama State to a 2-2 draw, bringing the Red Wolves’ record to 1-2-2 and Alabama State’s record to 0-5-1.
Alabama State controlled much of the opening half and scored the game’s first goal within the first 20 minutes. Midfielder Nishio Tamami found the back of the net off an assist from midfielder Queenster Mensah, giving the Hornets a 1-0 lead at halftime.
A-State responded early in the second half when first-year forward Elleigh Newcomb scored off an assist from midfielder Ava Riehl to even the match at 1-1.
Newcomb gained another goal in the 56th minute, giving the Red Wolves their first lead of the game. However, Alabama State responded nine minutes later when Tamami scored her second goal of the match to tie the game at 2-2, beating A-State goalkeeper Taylor Sweat to make the shot.
Both teams continued to battle for a winning goal, but neither could break through before the clock hit zero.

A-State outshot Alabama State 24-8 overall. Sweat recorded three saves for the Red Wolves, while Alabama State goalkeeper Valentina Espinel stopped eight A-State attempts, including additional shots from Newcomb.
Arkansas State also celebrated Senior Day, with a pre-game ceremony, recognizing Tindra Cederholm, Leigha Dobbins, Kennedy Horn, and Sweat.
The Red Wolves will return to action against Southern Indiana in Evansville, IN on September 3 at 4 p.m.
